'Rad' is back and so are man tanks. Cringe if you will, but I think they're hot. In a showy, bro-ey way. Consider it the male version of the romper; flattering for the toned, svelte and confident - any or all of the above. An undeniably sporty look, man tanks conjure up images of vintage surf culture. Cue North Shore brights and freckles. Man tanks took a '90s turn in Point Break proving they too can be tough. To appease both surf films, you can find your man tank via Warriors of Radness or Swell's extensive selection. Throwback brand Warriors - nominated for GQ's new menswear designer of '11 - is flashy, slightly trashy, while Swell supplies cool grays and subtle stripes. Stay loose, haole.

J.Crew Monogram: Worth the Wait?

Monogram. A lost art? There's something utterly charming about a little ode to yourself on yourself. I've always had an affinity for 'S's, but the key is to keep it simple. And that's just what J.Crew Monogram does. I recently received their Stretch Perfect Shirt in Classic Stripe ($68) as a gift, but what made it special was the teeny red 'S' monogram on the left sleeve cuff. It is teeny though, it could be a smidgen larger. Monogram is an extra $10 and there's a single letter option or triple-initials in classic block monogram or diamond insignia. It takes two extra weeks to arrive, so planning is crucial - make sure to dot your 'i's and cross your 't's.

No doubt, San Francisco fashion is on an upward tick: Wintour drawing museum exhibits, Refinery 29's SF launch, the gentrification of mid-Market via CityPlace. And has anyone else noticed the San Francisco Ballet's style boom? I have, and I'm thinking of getting back to the bar with a Lines ballet class. But enough about this Black Swan, the Ballet is bringing shapemaster Giambattista Valli to The Fairmont for its 30th San Francisco Ballet Auxiliary Fashion Show on Tuesday, 5/10. Cocktail hour, live auction, raffle, fashion show - and yes, fancy costs as fancy does. Highest ticket price is the Grand Benefactor Costume Circle Ticket at $1,000, and $200 is as low as it goes for a Patron Ticket. Boom shaka.

Eating out in San Francisco can be both invigorating and intimidating. I'm always on the prowl for newness (me at the Bun Mee pre-launch party), however, SF has so many fine classics (Kokkari is as good as ever, naysayers). If you're a fan of Marcia Gagliardi's weekly Tablehopper e-column, or her beloved SF dining guide, you'll be stoked to know she has launched an accompanying website: www.deepdishing.com.

I'll be referring to DD to learn what restaurants are buzzing and what plates to order where.
